dixon Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 hi all..im new to the site so hello.. i have abit of problem i bout a 2002 ford galaxy 2.3 automatic about 2 weeks ago with a fault the fault was that as driving along the gearbox would randomly drop down into first.. very dangerous if you are travelling at 70 i have since taken it to a supposedly gearbox specialist who told me it was the ecu.. and it would cost 1500 to replace. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- now im not prepared to pay this kind of money. is there any common faults with the galaxy's which could cause this.. anyone know what it the problem might be? or is the specailist about right.. im abit of a novice when it comes to galaxys as i am more of a classic ford man.. thanks for any help that you may be able to offer thanks richard Quote
chrispb123456 Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Hi First of all check the wiring loom and multi plug connector going to gearbox, disconnect plug and check for corrosion, secondly check with Vagcom see if any fault codes stored for transmission Quote
